Past, Present, Future: The Royal Scottish Academy in the Borders

Discover 200 years of Scottish art, creativity and connection with the Scottish Borders.

We invite schools to visit Past, Present, Future: The RSA in the Borders, a landmark exhibition at Hawick Museum & Gallery celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Royal Scottish Academy.

The exhibition explores the enduring relationship between the Royal Scottish Academy and the Scottish Borders, bringing together historic and contemporary works by artists with strong connections to the region.

A journey through 200 years of art

Students can discover the work and achievements of celebrated past Academicians, including Anne Redpath, Sir William George Gillies and Tom Scott, alongside work by leading contemporary artists such as Victoria Crowe, George Donald, Jake Harvey and Andrew Cranston.

The exhibition also looks to the future, showcasing emerging voices who are helping to shape the next generation of art in the Scottish Borders. Works on display include paintings by David Cass and sculpture by Richard Goldsworthy.
